This is our first AGM as an incorporated organization - a historic milestone! We will:

WHAT IS INCORPORATION?

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2025

Incorporation means we're now a registered legal entity under Queensland law, like a company. We went from an informal group to an official organisation.

Many of you requested incorporation. Here's why incorporation matters:

 

BENEFITS:

  • Can apply for grants (Council, State, Federal)

  • Can receive business donations and sponsorships

  • Committee members protected from personal liability

  • Professional credibility with government and funders

  • Proper insurance for events

  • Long-term sustainability

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold AGM every year

  • Keep proper financial records

  • Follow our Constitution

  • Submit annual returns to Office of Fair Trading

  • Maintain member register

  • Elect committee properly

Worth it? Absolutely. The benefits far outweigh the paperwork.

🔹 COMMITTEE (5 members)

Elected leaders who manage day-to-day operations:

  • President

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Project Manager

  • University Student coordinator

 

🔹 ADVOCATES

Former chairpersons and respected founding community leaders who provide wisdom and guidance. Succession planning. Advisory role. Participate in the committee.

 

🔹 ORDINARY MEMBERS 

All registered community members.

Can:

  • Attend AGMs

  • Vote on important matters

  • Stand for committee positions

  • Participate in all activities

 

🔹 JUNIOUR MEMBERS

All registered community members under the age of 18years. 

Can:

  • Attend AGMs

  • May not vote (unless permitted by law).
